MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Metals are probably the most fascinating elements on our planet. That’s because they are the basic material for all the important technical advances made by humans. With an apprenticeship at ERVO, you have the opportunity to be part of the next step in the (r)evolution of technology. Most of today’s smartphones, probably including yours, contain a piece of ERVO precision. But there are plenty more reasons why an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer is a very good choice for kick-starting your career. Here you’ll learn from scratch how a metal component is developed, and how you produce it and maintain it. All this on extremely powerful machines. Incidentally, if you pass your final exam, we will offer you a permanent job. Are you on board?

Overview of the apprenticeship

 

An apprenticeship in mechanical engineering at ERVO takes 3 and a half years. This covers basic training, classes in the vocational school, job rotation through several departments, and preparation for the final exam. After your apprenticeship, you will hold a qualification that is very sought-after in the growth market of metalworking. This is your start to a successful career with many other advantages!

First year

 

The first year of your apprenticeship starts with a 6-month basic training course. Using training workpieces, you learn how to saw, drill, turn, mill, measure, and more. You also learn the theory behind these operations. To give you a feeling for technical drawings and ensure you can also read them, we show you how to create simple technical drawings yourself.

Second year

 

In the second year of your apprenticeship, you get to directly take part in work on our customer orders. For internal equipment, you already take on the compilation and installation of assemblies. Furthermore, in this year you get to know our CNC milling and turning machines. In the apprentice workshop, you try out your first programming capabilities for these machines. In your second year, you also get a first taste of our quality assurance, where you get to know correct measuring and the basics of quality management. Then, we further hone your growing skills in individual production.

Third year

 

In your third year, you work in various departments to get to know our entire production processes, and we prepare you for your future daily work. You take on a proper role in various customer orders, cooperate with a skilled team, and learn tips and tricks from our experienced employees. Additionally, you set up and adjust machines for specific products and independently carry out quality checks. In various projects, you take over process monitoring as well as the setup and adjustment of tools.

Fourth year

 

In your final year, you take your final exam. We prepare you for this with internal and external courses and practical work. The courses include welding, cycle turning, and pneumatics. If you like, you can take part in the apprentice competition and measure your strengths against other apprentices in the state. This is in particular a very good way to prepare for your final exam.

After we’ve received your written application, we invite you and your parents to an interview.

If the interview goes well, you will get an offer and can start your apprenticeship at ERVO.

Every day, I love working with metal. I saw ERVO as a good company for an apprenticeship, and from Day 1 everybody made me feel welcome and properly integrated. There’s a great working atmosphere in the company and my colleagues are always happy to pass on their knowledge. You get good opportunities to develop both personally and professionally. Right now, I’m doing a mechanical engineering apprenticeship and learning new things every day.
